Irene Adler Made Me Do It...

Friday night we went to see Sherlock Holmes with some friends. I grew up watching the BBC version with Jeremy Brett and reading the collected volumes of stories and was a bit skeptical when I first saw the previews online. But I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Guy Ritchie's version for the action-packed thrill ride that it was. I was also quite taken with Irene Adler's costumes and distinctly remember the moment when I thought to myself, I must find a way to wear my vest tomorrow. I found this piece on deep discount at J Crew a few years ago and really love it. Being me, I had to add lots of vintage pieces and color...so its a bit quirky and I kind of felt like a circus clown when I looked back through the photos. But I did get to wear my felt cloche hat and thrifted black swing coat, so ultimately it was all worth it.

Today, I felt a bit more tropical...well, you'll see...

  2. Lovely outfits! So bright and girly but also classic. That giraffe pin is marvelous.

I love the Jeremy Brett shows too! That was why I hadn't watched the Guy Ritchie one either. Maybe I'll check it out now.

  3. Oh I just adore the hat and swing coat, gorgeous. I think that is the cutest photo #4 you look like you're a little girl.

Fabulous outfit in the second love the ring, pin and trench too. Looks so great on you.

I've read the Sherlock volumes too, so was wondering how the movie would go. I loved it, I thought Watson held his own with Sherlock which was good.

  11. The deadline is a week this friday, so you just need to make a secret (roughly A6 size, but it doesn't really matter) and you can either scan it/take a photo of it and send that to me via email OR post it to me (I will happily post it back if you want, it feels right for the secrets to stay with the creater). Let me know which options works best for you and we can figure it out. I am so glad you want to get involved!

  17. I've never seen any version of Sherlock Holmes on the screen: shame on me! I particulary like your hat. I have one of nearly the same kind I hope to show on my blog one of these days.

Sorry I haven't emailed you back yet--super busy at work and then w/just "life" in general. I will write you back--promise!

PS_I want to see Sherlock Holmes really really bad! Not so much for any reason other than I kinda have a thing for Robert Downy Jr. (I'm hoping its a good movie on top of that).
